## For those who need it. Useful to the whole room.

Captions on the phones of those who need them, without singling anyone out.

- ### Deaf and hard-of-hearing attendees

Live captions on their own phone as the speaker talks, with names and terms right.
- ### Anyone who follows better by reading

Busy halls, fast speakers and note-takers: captions stay on the page, so anyone who looked away can scroll back to what was said.

- ### Attendees listening in another language

The same captions, translated into the language each attendee picks as the speaker talks.
- ### Remote and hybrid attendees

They open the same session link and follow in their language, wherever they are.

## Captions, subtitles, transcripts. Here’s what each one is.

Four ways to read a talk, and one way to hear it in another language.

## One captioner, one room. AI captions in every room.

Choose per session. Many events need both.

A human captioner, often called CART (Communication Access Realtime Translation), writes every word live and is booked for each session in advance. Book one when an attendee asks for a human captioner, or for a session where every word needs a person’s check.

AI captions make captions the default for every breakout and side stage, not only the keynote.

[What CART captioning is, and what it costs](https://www.snapsight.com/en/resources/glossary/cart-services/)

### Human captioner (CART)

A trained captioner writes them live. One captioner or team per room, booked in advance for each session, usually in the language spoken on stage.

Best for requested accommodations and sessions that need a human check.

### Snapsight live captions

AI writes them from the room’s audio feed, in every room that has one, all at once. Turned on per session and free for every event, in the spoken language or translated into the attendee’s.

Best for every session, for anyone who follows better by reading.

## Three steps before doors open. Then every session is captioned.

We test the feed, languages and attendee access with you first.

1. ### Plug in the room

Your AV team sends the mixer feed to a laptop running Snapsight, with a reliable internet connection.
2. ### Put up one QR code

On the stage screen, a slide or a badge. Remote attendees get the same link.
3. ### Attendees read along

On their own phone, in their browser, in the language they pick. No app to download.

## Clean audio in. Accurate captions out.

Accuracy follows the audio, the accent and the language.

- ### A direct feed

From the sound desk, rather than a room microphone.
- ### Custom vocabulary

Speaker names, sponsor brands, drug names and acronyms, added before the session so they come out right on every phone.
- ### A sound check

Hear the feed before doors open.

**97%** English transcription accuracy, with a direct feed from the venue mixer

**~200 ms** From voice to text, on each attendee’s own phone

- ### Speaker detection

Panels read as a conversation, not one long paragraph, with each speaker’s words kept apart.
- ### Mid-sentence switching

When a speaker moves between languages, even within a sentence, the captions keep up.

Measured on English sessions with a direct feed from the venue mixer. Accuracy varies with audio quality, accents and language. The attendee view notes that AI-generated content may contain mistakes.

## Frequently asked questions

### How do I add live captions to a conference?

Send each room’s audio from the mixer to a laptop running Snapsight and put the session’s QR code on screen. Attendees scan it and read live captions on their own phones as the speaker talks. Snapsight’s team checks the feed with you before doors open.

### Can attendees get live captions on their own phones without an app?

Yes. They scan the session’s QR code or open its link in their phone’s browser, and Snapsight’s captions appear as the speaker talks. There is nothing to download and no devices to hand out.

### Can we show live captions on the screen in the room?

Yes. Presentation Mode puts the live text full screen on a stage display, TV or monitor, in a high-contrast layout made for reading at a distance. Use it in the main room, in overflow rooms or on digital signage, while each attendee can still follow on their own phone.

### Are live captions free?

Yes. Snapsight’s live captions and text translation are free for every event: every room at once, up to 10 languages per session, and 100 sessions a year. The $299 Engage pass puts your branding and sponsor logos on the captions, and transcript downloads come with Pro.

### How accurate are AI live captions?

Snapsight’s English transcription is 97% accurate, measured on English sessions with a direct feed from the venue mixer, and speech becomes text in about 200 ms. Accuracy varies with audio quality, accents and language, so take the feed from the sound desk and add names and acronyms as custom vocabulary.

### What is the difference between captions and subtitles?

Captions show the speaker’s words in the language they are speaking; subtitles translate them into another language. Snapsight gives attendees both live: captions in the spoken language, or translated captions in the language each attendee picks.

### What is CART captioning, and when do we still need it?

CART (Communication Access Realtime Translation) is live captioning by a trained human captioner, booked per session. Book it when an attendee asks for a human captioner, or for a session where every word needs a person’s check. Snapsight’s AI captions can cover every other session, in every room with an audio feed.

### Can live captions be translated into other languages?

Yes. Each attendee picks a language on their own phone and reads the captions translated as the speaker talks, with up to 10 languages per session. To hear the translation instead, voice is $10 per language per session, with captions included.

### Will captions get speaker names and technical terms right?

Add speaker names, sponsor brands, drug names and acronyms as custom vocabulary before the session, and they come out right on every phone. Speaker detection shows who is talking on panels, and Snapsight keeps up when a speaker switches languages mid-sentence.

### Can we download the captions as a transcript or subtitle file?

Yes, with Snapsight Pro. Transcript and subtitle downloads are included for purchased Pro sessions at $249 per session of up to 2 hours, less in packs; Free and Engage are for following live.
